The Rolling Hills of Red Bluff

Been meaning to capture this awesome rolling field and finally got a chance to do so this afternoon. :) Used my Nikon D3100, a polarizer, and graduated filter.

The Art of Houseplants

After cleaning the house yesterday I kept looking around for something else to do before sitting down to read. I noticed my cactus plant had a bloom sprouting from it and the way the light coming through the window on it sent me into a frenzy to grab my DSLR for some close-up shoots. After being satisfied capturing the cactus bloom, I ventured outside to my favorite plant, Euphorbia Rigida (can be purchased at the Turtle Bay Nursery). Below are the images I call "The Art of Houseplants".

You can even catch a glimpse of the Coca-Cola bottom the plant was sitting next to! :)

Formal Senior Portraits::Sarah

Finished all the editing to Sarah's "Formal Senior" Portraits. Had some trouble with the images being too dark, I think I was in shooting scenery mode with my camera and not doing portraits. :)

Sneak Peek::Sarah & Kristin

Here are some of the images taken for Sarah's "Formal" senior portraits along with her best friend Kristin. Stay tuned for the rest of the images and be looking for her "Casual" senior portraits to come in a few weeks. Baby sisters are always spoiled aren't they?? :) hehe!

Monolith

Saturday we found ourselves at the Monolith near Turtle Bay. There we shot my sister's formal senior portraits but while waiting for her to meet us there, I couldn't help but mess with my new graduated filter and my polarizer. Below are the images taken. :)

Ceramic Designs::Baker

And last but certainly not least, I got a few shots of my mom's two bathroom vanities done by Ceramic Designs, by Ron Green Inc. :)

Ceramic Designs::Batten

A big THANK YOU to Ms. Batten for giving us a tour of her newly remodeled home! Love it! Also found out her dad was a photographer! We so enjoyed discussing the ins and outs of photography and Ping Pong. :)

Ceramic Designs::Coulter

Thank you to Mr. Coulter for letting us photograph his remodel! I loved the hickory cabinets...

Ceramic Designs::Fix

The Fix family has a beautiful home on the outskirts of Redding. The view they have is simply amazing! And of course, the beautiful granite and tile work was done by Ceramic Design, by Ron Green Inc.

Calm Before the Storm

Well, here I am at my favorite location along I-5. As I was leaving work yesterday I couldn't help but keep glancing at the clouds and watching the sun peek through as it was setting. I told myself that if they still looked that awesome by the time I got to Sunset Hills Drive, I would pull off and set up some shoots. Well sure enough there was still enough light and beauty to pull it off. :)

Practicing with Graduated Filters::Lightroom 3

Been experimenting with the graduated filter module in Lightroom 3. Below is an image I took at the Coast last year. I wanted a more dramatic sunset type of sky but of course the sky was overcast and not very interesting. But by using the filters in Lightroom I was able to acheive what you see below. Still could use some more perfecting but it's a start. :)
